Dislike them more every day
Have i ever mentioned that i don’t like American Express? Probably not but its a fact and for a number of reasons including the fact that for a start every time i have to talk to customer service I am talking to someone in India was a more english name than a lot of Aussies like Andrew, Ron, Mary and Jane.
But yesterday they reached a new level of annoyance for me. Making use of the sale Harvey Norman i had checked to make sure that i had the credit on my card to buy a new laptop and i got it together with a couple of other things that i needed and walking up to the checkout with my credit card in hand i proceeded to pay. Or tried to. Rejected. Tried a lower amount and … rejected. What the? So from the store American Express was called and they confirmed yes i had the credit and that there was no reason that it wouldn’t be accepted. But if there was a problem then I needed to call back Monday. Not a lot of use to me on a saturday! So i had to come back home, grab my mastercard and go back to pay for the stuff.
Now if that wasn’t bad enough being rejected with credit on my card, there is more. Four hours later i got a call from them querying why there was rejected transactions on my card and that if there was a problem with the transaction then the store should have called for authorisation. Um hello. Been there done that.
So in short, I don’t much like them and they just help me dislike them more every day.
